STATE TIMES NEWS SURANKOTE: In its endeavour to encourage the youth for physical fitness, Army organised “Mini Marathon” under the theme “National Integration Run” as a precursor to the celebration of 26 January 2020 at Surankote in Poonch District. The aim of the event was to develop sportsman, competitive spirit among youth and to connect the youth with national fervor to celebrate national events conjointly. The spirit of sportsmanship is an essential ingredient for character building of the youth. Around 38 runners from village Surankote in Poonch district participated in the event and completed 12 Kms run. A diverse array of locals flocked the Surankote to cheer the runners and encouraged them to win. The event was attended by eminent persons of the area, Sarpanch and locals from nearby villages. 10 best runners were presented with awards, medals and a certificate of participation. The locals and youth whole heartedly appreciated the gesture of good will and bonhomie extended by Army and requested the army to conduct similar event in the future also.
