JAMMU: Army Public School (APS) Damana on Wednesday organised Sahodya Inter-school English Declamation Competition on the occasion of International Youth Day.
The theme for the declamation was ‘Empowered Youth as Partners for Change’. A total of 46 participants from 23 schools participated in the competition.
Chairman of the School, Brig Abhijit Chandra was the Chief Guest and Mita Chandra, Chairperson FWO, Chenab Brigade, was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
A motivational speech was delivered by Vikrant Mahajan on the role of positive attitude in our lives.
The judges for the declamation competition were Usha Shamindra, Retired Assistant Commissioner KV Sangathan and Dr Depankar Sen Gupta Senior Professor, Department of Economics, University of Jammu.
The participants bagged 13 prizes in all. Out of which 10 were consolation. The first prize was won by Azim-ul-haq from Heritage Public School while second place was secured by Himakshi Vinay from GD Goenka and third position was grabbed by Tanishka Rakwal from Air Force School. The students of APS Damana won consolation prizes.
The Chief Guest felicitated the winners and addressed the participants. He spoke about the importance of participation in various activities and the need for ‘Empowered Youth’ in today’s world.
