RAJOURI: Continuing campaign for making Rajouri city polythene free, District Development Commissioner Rajouri Er. Mohammad Aijaz Asad in compliance with directions of the High Court and SRO 45, constituted interdepartmental teams of different officers for conducting of marketing checking to ensure phasing out of use of polythene of less than 50 micron from August 6 to 20, 2018.
In one such marketing checking today, an anti-polythene drive cum awareness campaign was carried out from Khoera to Darhali Bridge-Choudhary Nar. The team was headed by Needam Iqbal Mirza, DFO Social Forestry Division Rajouri and Dr. Mohan Snehi, Divisional Officer SPCB Rajouri as Nodal Officer anti-polythene drive in the district. During this drive Executive Officer Municipal Committee Rajouri Bashir Ahmad along with team and representative from SHO Rajouri actively participated to ensure phasing out banned polythene from the markets. As mandate of these drives, team members made general masses and shopkeepers (violators and non-violators) aware of the danger of plastic in our environment and sought their help in minimizing it’s use.
In this drive 4.5 kg of banned polythene bags were seized and violator’s (shoppers/vendors) were issued with strict warning to desist from using polythene of less 50 micron otherwise, they will face legal action for under J&K Non-Biodegredable Material (Management and Handling) Act. their act.
