JAMMU: Several political parties and organisations on Wednesday staged anti-Pakistan protests in different parts of Jammu city after four Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed and three injured in unprovoked overnight firing from across the border.
Led by their chairperson Harsh Dev Singh, workers of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) demonstrated at the Exhibition Ground here. The protestors set ablaze the effigy of BJP for its stoic and timid silence against Pak’s persistent cease fire violations.
Singh stressed that Pakistan needs to be isolated at the international level to ensure that it stops its “nefarious” activities. He also attacked the BJP-led NDA government, alleging that the Centre had failed to deal with Pakistan effectively.
Pakistan has created terror along the border and the hinterland and the Centre is watching as a mute spectator with its focus only on winning the next year’s parliamentary elections, the JKNPP chairperson said.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comment on a 56-inch chest , made during the 2014 general elections campaign, he reminded the government of its promise of getting the heads of 10 Pakistani soldiers for that of one Indian troop. He said that it’s high time that the Union Government must give a blunt message to Pakistan that Jammu and Kashmir was an integral part of India and maintained that the nation was now eagerly awaiting the tough posturing by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi against Pakistani onslaughts as emphatically proclaimed by him on scores of occasions.
Among those who led the protest include Rajesh Padgotra, Parshotam Parihar, Nirmal Kishore, Rajeshwar Singh Sambyal, Khajoor Singh, Mohinder Singh, Rohit Sharma, Rashpaul Singh, Rakesh Verma, Ashok Chouhan and Sunny Singh.
The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena also staged a protest against the unprovoked firing by Pakistan in the Samba sector which led to the martyrdom of 4 BSF soldiers.
Led by Ashok Gupta, President of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena, the activists assembled in Rani Park area and raised slogans against the Pakistan.
The Dogra Front and Shiv Sena workers called for stern action against Pakistan for the ceasefire violation.
Sushma, Sunita, Kamla, Shashi, Raj kumari, Anita, Krishna, Des Raj, Bantu, Somnath, Baboo and Abhishek were also joined the protest.
The State unit of the BJP condemned the killing of four BSF personnel in cross-border firing.
“Pakistan is a country of traitors and the treacherous. It once again stabbed us in the back under the cover of darkness,” BJP State President Ravinder Raina said, warning the ‘enemy’ of stern action. He said that Pakistan cannot be trusted and “it is an enemy nation that will be given a response”.
Strongly condemning brutal killing of four BSF troopers including one Assistant Commandant, the Team Jammu said that BJP leadership has failed to deal with Pakistan’s treacherous.
In a statement issued here, Chairman of Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal recalled that during 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP leadership has promised to deal Pakistan with iron hand but now it appears that party has crossed all limits of appeasement.
“Where is 56 inches chest?”, Singh asked and quoted the official data that during the last four years maximum number soldiers have attained martyrdom on the borders and in the hinterlands.
“BJP led NDA Government at the Centre is least concerned over dignity and honour of the security forces because their main aim is to appease stone pelters of Kashmir Valley to whom Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had hailed as misguided ‘own children’ who needed love and affection”, Jamwal said.
Condemning unprovoked firing by Pakistan, the State President of Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan regretted that the Indian Government has so far failed to manage international pressure on Pakistan, who had intensified activities from across the border and LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, which is a matter of great concern.
Mahajan came down heavily on Pakistan for again resorting to firing on today morning, on the day of when whole India celebrating holy month of Ramzan and said that this shows the intensions of Pakistan and its army towards the normalization of relations between two countries. He said that the Central Government must strongly convey to Pakistan that the ceasefire violations, sponsoring terrorism and talks can’t go together.
