JAMMU: Ashura procession commenced from Imam Bargah Peermitha under the banner of Anjuman-e-Imamia, Jammu.
A Shabihey Zuljinah and a procession of Ashura were taken out from Imam Bargah Sofi Shah Peer Mitha. Thousands of mourners across the region participated to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS).
A brief Majlis was delivered by Molana Syed Ghanzanfar Ali Rizvi Professor Jamia tul Muntazar Nawgama Sadaat before the procession in which he stressed upon the teachings of Imam Hussain (AS). After passing through the traditional route the procession culminated at Karbala Complex, Wazarat Road where Majlis Sham-e-Ghariban was delivered by Moulana Molana Syed Ghanzanfar Ali Rizvi Professor Jamia tul Muntazar Nawgama Sadat.
A procession was taken out from New Plots by Anjuman-e-Haidery New Plot that culminated and merged with the main procession at Imam Bargah Sofi Shah Peer Mitha. Ashura, the 10th day of Muharram, on this day Imam Hussain (AS) and his 72 companions laid their lives and saved humanity and the values of Islam, battling against the tyranny of Yazid, the ruler and Caliph of Muslim Ummah at that time.
Addressing media President Anjuman-e-Imamia, Jammu Syed Amanat Ali Shah said that it is our duty to spread the message of pure islam that has been gifted upon us by our beloved Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (s.a.w). He added Ashura gives a message to entire humanity that we should stand firm against the oppressor and never forego our responsibilities even though we need to sacrifice ourselves for the cause. Ashura symbolises the eternal struggle of truth against false hood and the battle against injustice and cruelty realised by Imam Hussain (AS) as he offered supreme sacrifice to uphold the principle against tyranny. The battle of Karbala is the only battle in the history on which the blood got success over sword. Prof. Sujat Ali Khan Secretary, Anjuman-e-Imamia, Jammu while speaking to media said that Karbala is an institution to learn how to give yourself for the sake of oppressed and stand against oppression of Yazeed.
He added that Anjuman-e-Imamia would like to present heartfelt thanks to Ahle Sunnat and various non-Muslim organisations for extending their full cooperation and support during the procession by installing different stalls as refreshment for the mourners.
We also extend thanks to Anjuman-e-Hiadery, Anjumna-e-Hussaini, All Ladakh Muslim Students Association Jammu (ALMSAJ), volunteers of Shaheed Muttahiri Library New Plots, administration of MESWL and people from Poonch, Rajouri, Chanderkot and Kashmir for showing exemplary discipline during the procession. Anjuman-e-Imamia presented special thanks to administration for arrangements made for the successful and safe conduct of Muharram proceedings in Jammu as always being there to listen and help.
