JAMMU: Anganwari workers and helpers continued their protest for the last one week here, demanding increase in honorarium.
Scores of protestors assembled in front of the Office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu raising anti-government slogans.
The protestors demanded increase in honorarium for both workers and helpers in Anganwari centres.
“We have already requested the State Government to increase the honorarium of anganwari workers and helpers but all in vain till date,” protesting workers said.
They added, “We are demanding maximum honorarium of Rs 10,000 for workers.”
“We are almost 60,000 employees and we demand justice from the government,” they said.
While addressing the protesting workers Mohd Gafoor Dar State President J&K National Trade Union Front condemned the anti workers policies of State Government and ICDS higher authorities who are just shedding crocodile tears for the welfare of the workers and not settling their genuine issues.
The other women activists who addressed the protest include Mahajaveen, Swanrna, Rattna, Vijay Kumari, Lalita, Irshad, Shamim Akhtar, Rubeena Akhtar, Anuradha, Suman Lata, Raj Kumari and Swatantar Kumari.
They demanded enhancement of honorarium, fixation of final seniority lists and holding of immediate DPC meeting to clear all the pending promotions of supervisors, implementation of New Pension Scheme to workers and helpers and provision of gratuity at the time of retirement at the age of 65 years, etc.
