JAMMU: The protest by members of the Jammu and Kashmir Anganwari Workers and Helpers Union here entered its 133rd day on Wednesday.
Union leaders said they would continue to stage the protest against the State Government till their demands are met. The protesters demanded that the State Government should follow in the footsteps of the Haryana Government and increase the allowance of Anganwari workers and helpers.
“Despite working for decades at meagre wages, we are being paid less than our counterparts in Haryana and Rajasthan. We complained and protested, but the governments never listened to our demands. Now, we have decided to continue our agitation in favour of our demands till the government accepts our demands,” they added.
The protesting workers condemned the anti workers policies of the State Government and higher authorities of ICDS who are only making a lip sympathy with the Anganwari workers and doing nothing on the ground.
The protesters while raising slogans in support of their demands warned to intensify the agitation in case the demands were not conceded immediately by the government.
