Dear Editor,, The Prime Minister’s return and rehabilitation package was announced long back in the year 2008 as a step towards rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrant’s unemployed youths in Kashmir Valley and to strengthen universal brotherhood as well. However, pathetic handling by the successive governments has resulted in the total failure of the scheme. The government had claimed to re-establish around 75,000 Kashmiri Pandit families but the harsh reality is that the government could not even rehabilitate 3,000 families during the last eight years since the package was announced by the then PM Dr. Manmohan Singh. The unemployed migrant youths are willing to work in the Kashmir Valley but the dubious attitude of the state as well as the Central Government is creating havoc only. Around 6,000 jobs were announced under this package but the State Govt. has recruited only 2,500 candidates till date. It is also in place to mention here that the State Government has advertised around 1,500 posts for different departments under this package in the last year but unfortunately till date nothing positive has come in this regard. In spite of repeated pleas and requests, the government hasn’t taken any initiative in this which simply shows how biased is the J&K Govt towards Kashmiri Pandit community in particular. The need of an hour now is that the J&K SSB and State Government should fast track the whole process of recruitment under this Package for Kashmiri Migrants so that the unemployed youths of this ill-fated community can look forward towards their bright future.
