JAMMU: One of the few departments promoting sports in Jammu and Kashmir, Accountant General (A&E) Jammu and Kashmir has provided employment to four prominent cricketers of the State by way of holding three-day selection trials at MA Stadium, here.
“On the basis of the performance of the candidates in the field trials and their past records (certificates held by them), the AG is to declare four candidates successful,” a notification issued by the AG Office read. The selected cricketers are Paras Sharma (38.5 pts), Asif Khan (36 pts), Mehjoor Ali Sofi (35.5 pts) and Ram Dayal (33 pts). Further, four other cricketers have been placed in waiting list. They are Umer Nazir (32 pts), Abid Nabi (31.5 pts), Mayank Jain (31 pts) and Sandeep Singh (31 pts).
Important to mention here that every year, the AG Officer (J&K) enrol outstanding sports persons in the disciplines of Cricket, Football and Hockey so as to encourage sports in true spirit.
