JAMMU: As part of 69th Republic Day celebrations and Bharat Parv, Air Force Station Jammu organised static display of military assets here on Saturday under the theme ‘Know Your Forces’ with the aim to reach out to the students of Jammu region and familiarise them about the Indian Air Force in particular and defence forces in general.
The event was especially organised for students of various schools and colleges in Jammu region. The main highlights of the event were static display of helicopter, RPA, Mobile Communication Terminal, Air Force Garud Commandos with their state of art weapons, para sailing by Air Force personnel and other newly acquired equipment.
The day-long event witnessed a huge turnout of school students, teachers and families of defence personnel. The aircraft and equipments were on display and role of each was explained to the students by the air warriors. Publicity stalls were set up at the venue.
The officers briefed the enthusiastic crowd about career opportunities and life in Air Force. This experience was meant to help students understand how the Indian Air Force functions and what it is to be part of one of the best Air Forces in the world.
The girl students seemed quite elated and motivated at the mention of women as pilots, controllers and other ground duty officers. The drive was quite effective to put a positive impression in the hearts and minds of the students and families about IAF as a friendly force which is always ready to help them, whether in disaster relief operations or securing them during war. The huge positive response to the campaign also indicated the willingness of local population, the youth in particular, to work in tandem with IAF to make the area safer from any local or foreign anti-national elements misadventure.
