State Times News KATHUA: District Development Commissioner, O P Bhagat, today visited border village Rathua of Hiranagar and reviewed the status of construction of bunkers besides taking stock of grievances of the villagers. The villagers apprised the DDC about their inability to contact the administration due to mobile connectivity issues during cross border firing. They informed that their houses, farm fields and live stock suffer huge losses and damage during cross border shelling and demanded better amenities to compensate the same. The construction of bunkers is still incomplete and the bunkers also lack toilets, villagers informed the DDC. DDC assured the villagers that the district administration will extend every possible help to mitigate their sufferings. He added that timely construction and repair of border roads, lanes and drains besides ensuring better education, healthcare and related facilities to the border dwellers are being focussed upon. He assured that necessary steps would be taken up to provide adequate staff of Doctors and para medicos in healthcare centres of border areas. He also stressed on highlighting the problems faced by the villagers during Gram Sabha meetings so that GPDP can be prepared accordingly. ACR, Devinder Paul, Tehsildar, Engineers and villagers were present on the occasion.
