STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Expressing deep concern over the burning issues of Udhampur such as paralysed traffic management, polluted as well as irregular water supply, increased drug abuse & increased toll tax between Jammu and Udhampur, former MLA & NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia informed that on Friday, 26th April Panthers Party will do Dharna in front of Deputy Commissioner Office Udhampur on these issues. While addressing a press conference here on Tuesday at Udhampur, NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia briefed that from Jan 1, 2019 he started door to door awareness campaign over burning issues and after one month ‘Maha Rally’ was also organised as mark of protest in which thousands of locals took part. Mankotia said that administration turned blind eye and remained completely failed to take necessary action to sort out these issues. Mankotia apprised that in Udhampur city MH chowk, Jakhani Chowk as well as surroundings of Rathian, Battal-Ballian, Tikri etc traffic management has totally collapsed & heavy traffic jam creates mess every day at Udhampur. Reiterating the demand of shifting the Jakhani Naka, Mankotia said that they had already demanded several times to shift this Naka which is the main cause of heavy traffic Jam around the city. Mankotia stressed upon the impure and irregular water supply in Udhampur. He disclosed that people of Udhampur are forced to drink most polluted water. He revealed that all city waste is dumped near Tawi river from where the entire water supply is pumped to city. Expressing over the failure of administration to curtail the drug abuse and trafficking in Udhampur, NPP President Mankotia said that our youth is falling in its trap with fast rate. “it is the time for the Administration to wake upfrom the deep sleep” he added Further, Mankotia termed ‘Ban Toll Plaza’ as big burden for the people of Udhampur and expressed his concern over the gradual increase in the Toll-Tax rate every year for 60km long, Udhampur – Jammu route & said that such a high increase in the rate to Rs 200 is not applied at any other city in whole country between mentioned distance for which he demanded the earlier decrease in the rate, so that the people can feel relief. Senior leaders Rafiq Chandeil and Sham Sharma were also present during press conference.
