STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday booked former junior engineer and other officials of I&FC Department Poonch in case involving misappropriation of funds. Anti-Corruption Bureau registered a formal case against Mohammad Farooq, then JE, son of Mohd Bashir, resident of Surankote, District Poonch and other officers/officials of Irrigation ad Flood Control Department Poonch vide FIR No 3/19 under Section 5(1) (c), 5 (1) (d) read with Section 5 (2) J&K P.C Act Svt 2006 and Section 120-B RPC at Police Station ACB Rajouri on October 9, 2019. The instant case was registered on the outcome of verification conducted by ACB Rajouri on the basis of complaint lodged by the inhabitants of village Seri Khawaja Poonch to look into the allegations that officers/officials of Irrigation and Flood Control Department Poonch have misappropriated the amount of Rs 33.67 lakh allotted for the construction work of irrigation Khul in year 2009-10 at Seri Khawaja, Poonch.
It was surfaced during verification that Mohd Farooq and other officials of Irrigation and Flood Control Department Poonch by abuse of their official position and in connivance with each other, just for their pecuniary gains have misappropriated 2,767 bags of cement which were allotted for the execution of works at Seri Khawaja Khul in 2009-10, the cost of which has been assessed as Rs 10,09,955 (2767 bags at Rs 365 per bag), thereby causing a huge loss to the state exchequer.
On the prima facie establishment of the allegations, a formal case has been registered against the aforesaid persons and investigation has been taken up.
