The repealing of Article 370 along with Art-35A has fulfilled the most cherished desire of people of J&K in general and Jammu region in particular. Time and again, the issue was used for political motives by the parties but none dared to resolve it, leaving people to suffer. Political stewards like Syama Prasad Mukherjee and many others devoted their entire lives for the cause and even gave the supreme sacrifices. At last, the controversial Article was abrogated paving way for complete integration of the State of J&K with the Union of India.
Sat Sharma, former minister and senior BJP leader, said that whole country in general and people of Jammu and Kashmir in particular are celebrating the scrapping of Articles 370 and 35A. He said that the people of country irrespective of caste, colour and creed have appreciated the move of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He said, “Scrapping of Article 370 was the long pending demand of the people of Jammu and Kashmir but no government in the past had shown the courage to remove it.” He asserted that with the removal of Article 370, BJP has fulfilled its commitment with the people of country. He hoped that the removal of this contentious Article will prove beneficial to youth of Jammu.
Jasmer Singh, a social activist said that move to abrogate Article 370 with its baby 35A, granting special status to the State of Jammu and Kashmir, needed an extra ordinary courage for any Prime Minister. He said, “The impact of this Article had gone deep into the blood of generations during these seven decades and the same was proving detrimental for the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly supported by HM Amit Shah, took a yeomen’s step in this direction and after detailed delebrations with the legal think tanks, clinched the issue in one go and silenced all speculations and plans which were being chalked out within the country and outside for weakening the nation. The dream of complete integration of the country has become a reality, he added.
Veenu Khanna, BJP J&K Secretary appreciated the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for repealing Articles 370 and 35A. She said that Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Balraj Madhok and Prem Nath Dogra had sacrificed their lives for abrogation of Article 370 to integrate J&K fully with India. She said repeal of Article 370 will be real tribute to these great leaders, who stood for total integration of J&K with India and sacrificed their lives. “The people of J&K assure full support to the Central Government headed by Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for taking the historic decision. Sanjeev Sharma, a resident of Jammu, hailed the NDA Government for removing the Article 370. He welcomed the courageous step taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah which was very essential in the interest of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the entire country. “Everyone should come to fore and welcome and support this move, which has been taken for the welfare of J&K people. The Article 370 was responsible for under development of the State, including unemployment, corruption and mis-governance. Moreover, due to this controversial Article, people of the Jammu and Kashmir have suffered a lot, as it led to discrimination with them. Some politicians, termed this provision as a bridge between J&K and India, but in reality, it increased distance between people of the State and the country”, he maintained.
Corporator Rajinder Sharma welcomed the scrapping of Articles 370 and 35A and said that these moves will open new vistas of opportunities in the employment sector besides paving way for multinational companies in the newly carved out UTs and giving employment to the youth especially those living in Jammu. “Like other parts of the country, Jammu and Kashmir has now got an opportunity to move towards development and prosperity”, he said while asserting that repeal of Article 370 was a long pending demand of nationalist people of J&K. He said the issue was always used by Kashmir based political parties just for vote bank politics, without caring for the aspirations of people. “The abrogation of Article 370 will definitely bring a huge change in Jammu and Kashmir as far as development is concerned”, he added.

All rights including the vote to elect our representatives in the Assembly were denied to us, our educated youths are jobless, he said and lauded the BJP for ending “injustice with the community”. He also appealed to the Prime Minister to solve their other issues at the earliest.
