92.7 BIG FM officials along with family members celebrating Pehli Lohri of a girl child at Jammu.STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Traditionally, families that have witnessed marriage or birth of a boy child in the year gone by celebrate the couple’s or the little boy’s ‘Pehli’ Lohri with added enthusiasm and grandeur but 92.7 BIG FM in association with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital Katra gives the Lohri a social twist and spreads the message of gender equality by celebrating the festival in the same traditional manner for the girl child in an equally BIG way.
BIG FM’s unique initiative ‘Kudiyan Di Lohri’ returns this year to add more sparkle to a girl’s life. Big team including Vikrant Sharma, Cluster Programming Head, J and K, MJ Juhie, MJ Roohi Singh and MJ Rahul along with a Big Gang of Girls- Swara and Anandita and Dhol- Nagada went to the homes of happy families who are welcoming the birth of a girl child in the family. The initiative is also supported by the Bollywood and Pollywood celebrities who urged people to not only participate in the celebration but also make it a daily tradition to celebrate the birth of a girl in the family.
Mrs and Mr Arjun Gupta of Krishna Nagar and proud parents of a baby girl shared their happiness in such a way, “We are really happy to be blessed with a daughter and we appreciate 92.7 BIG FM’s effort and urge all the Jammuites to stop discriminating between girls and boys”.
Reety Gupta and Atul Gupta of Trikuta Nagar expressed their happiness like, “We have been blessed with a child after 10 years of wait so this Lohri is extremely special for us and we really want to thank team BIG FM for adding all the more colors to it and be a part of our daughter’s celebration”.
“It is the child who brings happiness in your life and not the sex of the child. Nowadays girls and son-in-laws care more for the parents than the sons. So we should stop thinking like this and celebrate the birth of a girl child just as much as we celebrate that of a boy”, said Mrs and Mr Sanjeev Gupta of Gandhi Nagar. Many other voices had the same happiness celebrating their daughter’s first Lohri in a grand way and gave message to stop discriminating between their own children simply on the basis of sex and thanked Big FM and SMVD Narayana Hospital for their annual feature ‘Kudiyan Di Lohri’.
