SRINAGAR: The enforcement squad of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department conducted market checking of various markets of Srinagar city including Lawaypora, Methan, Pantha Chowk, Batwara, Khanyar, Sonwar, Pandrethan, Zewan, Balhama, Kanitar, Alamdar Colony, Fateh Kadal, Batmaloo, Lal Bazaar, Bota Kadal, Rajbagh, Jawahar Nagar, Rambagh, Shalimar, Hari Singh High Street, Zoonimar, Lal Mandi and Regal Chowk.
During the checking, 620 business establishments were inspected and Rs. 64800 as fine have been collected from 81 erring shopkeepers for violating Essential Commodities Act.
