JAMMU: Miran Sahib team emerged overall winner in the Seventh Virsa Sambhal Gatka Competition oganised by Jaanbaaz Khalsa Gatka Trust Miran Sahib, near here on Sunday.
The main vision to organise this competition was to spread awareness among the youth especially girls about Sikh martial arts so as to defend themselves, the organisers said adding that the main purpose of the competition was to keep away the youth from drug abuse.
In this competition 10 teams from Miran Sahib, Phinder, Preetnagar, Simbal, Dablehar, Chowalla, Sunderbani, Bathuni (Rajouri), Badali Rakh (Udhampur) and Chatha took part.
The overall winner of the competition was Miran Sahib team whereas first runner-up was Simbal and second runner-up was Sunderbani team.
Special prizes were also presented to the students who got outstanding percentage in their academic education. Besides, student of the year and player of the year awards were also presented to Jovanpreet Singh from Preetnagar team and Manjinder Singh from Sunderbani team respectively.
Special Guest, Avatar Singh Anjaan was the anchor of the programme.
The competition was officiated by the technical panel including Rattandeer Singh, Dalgir Singh, Tejinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Sandeep Singh, Amandeep Singh, Abjot Singh, Jagbinder Singh, Balwinder Singh, Ravipaul Singh, Rashneel Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur and Gurleen Singh.
