STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Six bovine smugglers were arrested and 67 animals rescued in Rajouri district on Sunday. As per the details, a team of police headed by SHO Budhal Sanjay Raina under the supervision of DySP Operations Pranav Mahajan laid a Naka at Samote and intercepted a smuggler identified as Mohammad Nazir, son of Abdul Rashid resident, of Phalni and rescued ten bovines. Similarly, team also foiled a bovine smuggling bid at Nanga Thub in Budhal and arrested a smuggler Manzoor Hussain, son of Mir Hussain, resident of Keri Khawas. 23 bovines were rescued from his possession. Another team headed by SHO Thanamandi Javed Malik intercepted a Tata mobile (JK11B- 9450) which was driven by Mohammad Razaq, son of Makhna, resident of Bhanghai Thanamandi and rescued four bovine animals from it. The vehicle was seized on the spot and driver has been arrested. Similarly, a truck tralla (JK02AP 5733) was signalled to stop at Lamberi police Naka but driver broke the Naka and then drove the vehicle rashly on highway resulting damage to two light vehicles. Soon, a police alert was flashed and a team headed by SHO Nowshera Mohammad Amin under the supervision of Sub Divisional Police Officer Nowshera Brijesh Sharma rushed at Thalka Naka. However, during highway patrol, the said vehicle was found parked on highway side with both driver and smuggler had escaped from the spot. During checking , fifteen bovines were found loaded in the truck which have been rescued while vehicle has been seized. During Naka, two more Tata Mobiles were intercepted at Rajal top on Jammu Rajouri highway. Vehicles include JK11C 6430 which driven by Mohammad Wasim, son of Mohammad Akram, resident of Palangrh in which one bovine smuggler Mohammad Shabir, resident of Palangarh, was also travelling and other vehicle JK20 5057 was driven by Zahoor Ahmed resident of Sunderbani. Fifteen bovines were found loaded in both the vehicles and were rescued while both the vehicles have been seized and smugglers arrested. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Budhal, Thanamandi and Nowshehra.
