RAJOURI: To curb the menace of illegal distillation, the Excise sleuths led by Dr Sajad Majid Inspector under the supervision of Sheraz Ahmed Chauhan, Excise and Taxation Officer Rajouri – Poonch Range, conducted series of raids.
Under the directions of Excise Commissioner T. Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar the raids were conducted in village Sasalkote, Mohra, Jawahar Nagar, Sagote Shahpur, Kaller, Sawni, Dhanma, Dhani Dhar, Argi Dalhori, Bal, Chinmgus, Agrati and Nowshera in district Rajouri, in which 350 kg of Lahan and 70 litres of illicit liquor was destroyed.
During these raids three persons namely Rajesh Kumar, son of Behari Lal, resident of Kaller, Sanvi Devi, wife of Kamal Sharma, resident of Sagote and Kanta Devi, wife of Jeet Lal, resident of Shahpur were arrested.
The Jammu and Kashmir Excise Department has re-energised and activated its eradication and enforcement wing to act as flying squad to take action as provided under law on any complaint regarding violation of Excise Act.
