JAMMU: Dogri Sathya Mandal Ramnager (Udhampur) on Tuesday staged Dogri Play ‘Dangar’ on the second day of the ongoing 2nd Theatre Festival-2018 being organised by Sangam Theatre Group Reasi and supported by Ministry of Culture here at Abhinav Theatre Jammu.
On the occasion, MLA Ramnagar, R.S Pathania was the Chief Guest while Additional Secretary Cultural Academy, Dr Arminder Singh Amn presided over the function while MD Jamwal Group of Collages, Ajay Jamwal was the Guest of Honour. The play was written and directed by Jagdeep Dubay.
The chief guest appreciated the efforts made by the organizers and also appreciated the performance of the artists. M. Akram Khan, Director Sangam Theatre Group said that there are still certain drawbacks within the theatre culture. “If theatre activities take place and shows are organised on a regular basis, people would connect to it and start attending such shows. I feel really nice that we are trying to revive the theatre culture,” he said.
The artists who performed in the play were Vipan Upadhaya as Bafro Ram, Rajni Khajuria as Pakhru, Raj kumar as Neta, Vaid Madhotra as Munshi, Jagdeep Dubey as Noor Ali, Rajesh Dubey as Chiru and Ashutosh Prashar as Chusru.
The music was given by Rajesh Dubey, lights by Pawan Sharma, make-up by Vaid Madhotra, costumes by Vipan Upadhaya and set was designed by Raj Kumar.
Anil Bharti, Manzoor Mir, Surinder Goel, Kusam Tikoo, Shadab Khan, Sapna Soni, Neeraj Kesar, Promeela Koul, Parveen Akhtar, Rohit Bhat, Shazi Khan, Vijay Goswami and Raja Aamir Khan were also present.
The programme was compered by renewed headrest Sapna Soni.
Tomorrow, Samooh Theatre Group (Regd) will present Hindi play ‘Oedipus Rex’.
