POONCH: Police on Saturday foiled two bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 25 bovines from the clutches of smugglers in Surankote and Mendhar.
As per the details, a police party led by SHO Surankote laid Naka at various places on Mughal Road and rescued 20 animals which were being illegally taken to valley and seized three vehicles. The smugglers involved in transportation of bovines were also arrested. Cases vide FIR No 91, 92 and 94/2019 under Sections 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act were registered respectively and investigation was taken up.
In another instance, a team led by In-Charge Police Post Kallar during traffic checking intercepted one Mohammad Imran, son of Wali Mohammad, resident of Narol Tehsil Mendhar which was carrying five bovines in a Tata mobile (JK12A-6198) from Mendhar towards Surankote. All the bovines were rescued and the smuggler was nabbed. A case vide FIR No 32/19 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act was registered against him.
