Jammu: India proved too strong for Australia to thrash the rival in convincing straight sets and advance to the finals of the “Princess Cup” 20th South East Asian Women’s U-17 Volleyball Championship at the Nakhon Pathom Sports Centre Gymnasium on Monday.
India will face host Thailand in the final slated to be held tomorrow. In the semifinal match played today, in-form India pulled off a convincing 3-0 (28-26, 25-22, 25-23) victory over Australia in pool B and entered into final.
Earlier in Pool B league matches, India outclassed Singapore 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-20), remained unbeaten following their scintillating 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-19) win over Kazakhstan. India also thrashed New Zealand by 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 11-25, 25-16, 15-8).
“I am quite satisfied with my team’s performance. The key players performed well. Today I just tried to allow all players their chances to play and see how their mental strength is,” Indian coach said after the match.
