JAMMU: The Excise Department on Monday arrested one woman bootlegger and recovered four bottles of illicit liquor and 200 kg Lahan during raids at several villages in Bishnah and RS Pura.
On the directions of the Excise Commissioner, Mohammad Javed Khan and under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu, Syed Muried Hussain Shah, the excise team led by ETO South Range Rohit Sharma along with Inspectors Rajesh Chander, Sanjeev Gupta, Sub-Inspectors Manjeet Singh, Vikas Khajuria and Balwan Singh conducted raids in Excise Ranges Bishnah and RS Pura at villages Kotli Mian Fateh, Kotli Charkan, Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Dablehar, Tarachak, Kothey Bulandae, Lalyana, Phinder, Khour, Joian, Sheikhupura and Shibuchak to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
During the course of raids, one Beena Devi widow of Bachan Lal was arrested under J&K Excise Act while four bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan and 200 kg Lahan were recovered by the raiding team from the State land. Later, the excise team destroyed the recovered Lahan on spot.
