JAMMU: A 20-member Indian Junior Wushu team on Wednesday left for participating in the ninth Asian Junior Wushu Championship to be held at Korea from September 14 to 21, 2017.
The team was flagged off by National Chief Coach of India, Kuldeep Handoo at NS NIS Patiala, who interacted with the players and wished them success.
Earlier, the Association organised a coaching camp, sponsored by State Sports Council, under the guidance of Coach, Kuldeep Handoo at Judo Hall of the Indoor Complex of MA Stadium.
Earlier, the Wushu Association of India with the support of Sports Authority of India organised a coaching camp, at SAI Bhopal and NS NIS Patiala. It is pertinent to mention here that Junior Wushu team last year secured gold medal in the World Wushu Championship at Bulgaria-2016.
The office bearers of Wushu Association of India, Bhupender Singh Bajwa (President), Suhel Ahmed (General Secretary) and Manish Kacker (Senior Vice President) thanked Sports Authority of India and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for sanctioning the team and wished best of luck for the team. Others present on the occasion were Rajvir Singh (Coach), Rajesh Kumar (Tailor), Ravi Prakash Tripathi and M Sachidananda (Coach).
