State Times News RAMBAN: Police on Friday foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 20 bovines from the clutches of a smuggler. As per the details, on the directions of SSP Ramban Anita Sharma, a police party led by SHO Batote Insp. Nazir Ahmed under the supervision of DySP HQRs Ramban Asgar Malik and under the close supervision of Addl. SP Sanjay Parihar laid a surprise Naka near Nashri, Batote and during checking, two vehicles (JK02AC/8717(Truck) and JK02CA/5032(Tata mobile) were signalled to stop for checking. On search, the said vehicles found were loaded with 16 and four bovine animals respectively. Total 20 bovines have been rescued and both the vehicles seized. The driver of the truck managed to flee from the spot taking the advantage of darkness and a suspected bovine smuggler(driver) namely Ravi Kumar son of Shanker Dass resident of Neeli Nallah, Rahembal has been taken into custody. A case vide FIR No. 04/19 &05/19 under section 88RPC, 3 PC Act was registered at Police Station Batote and investigation taken up.
