DODA: Police on Tuesday arrested two persons and recovered 100 quarters of illicit liquor from their possession.
According to reports, acting on a specific information about the smuggling of illicit liquor, a police party led by SHO Assar Rouf Ahmed Khan laid a Naka at checking point Assar, on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar NH1B and started frisking of the vehicles and intercepted a Mahindra Pick-Up Van (JK14F-0379). “During search of the vehicle, 100 quarter bottles (180ml) of illicit liquor was recovered, which they confessed was meant for selling,” SHO added.
The accused have been identified as Satish Kumar son of Manohar Lal resident of Thandapani, Assar and driver Bittu Ram son of Churu Ram resident of Batote. A case vide FIR No 16/2018 under section 48-A Excise Act was registered against the accused at Police Station Assar.
