STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: Police on Sunday foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 18 bovines and arresting a smuggler at Ramban. Giving details of the incident, a Police spokesman told reporters that on a specific information, a truck (JK 02 AP 2481) was signaled to stop at Nashiri Naka point but the driver accelerated the speed in order to flee away. The alert cops chased the vehicle, stopped it and put to thorough search. During checking/search, 18 bovines were found loaded in it which were rescued. Truck driver namely Chander Pal Singh alias Bittu, son of Bhagat Singh, resident of Batote was arrested and a case vide FIR No. 09/20 under Sections 188 IPC and 11PC Act was registered against him at Police Station Batote. The arrest and rescue operation was made by Police Station Batote headed by SHO Niaz Malik under the close supervision of Asgar Malik Dy SP Hqrs, Sanjay Parihar Additional SP Ramban and overall supervision of Haseeb ur Rehman, SSP Ramban.
