JAMMU: Residents of village Meen Charkan, Tehsil Bari Brahmana, district Samba on Tuesday staged protest seeking probe against the SDM Vijaypur and revenue officials of Tehsil Bari Brahmana in a land scam.
Led by Rajesh Pargotra, JKNPP Provincial President Jammu and Sarpanch Bagla Rahya Khajur Singh, the activists and residents of village Meen Charkan assembled near Press Club and raised slogans against the Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sushma Chouhan for her failure to conduct administrative inquiry against the revenue officials of Tehsil Bari Brahmana and SDM Vijaypur despite of lapse of 50 days.
Pargotra said a similar protest was also held at Samba in front of office of the Deputy Commissioner on July 24, 2018.
The protesters were demanding an administrative inquiry of the revenue officials of Tehsil Bari Brahmana and SDM Vijaypur involved in a land scam, who with a conspiracy and subterfuge have deprived the public of Meen Charkan from a chunk of land comprising 1,457 Kanals and four Marlas worth Rs 23.91 crore through dishonest and surreptitious practices.
Pargotra said, “Two widows and destitute ladies who are octogenarians (80 + years) namely Soma Devi, widow of late Sansar Singh and Dharmi Devi, widow of late Tarlock Singh have been cheated.”
The protesters sought suspension of the erring revenue officials, rescission of the sale deeds registered at Sub-Registrar Samba and recovery of money amounting to Rs 23.91 crore transferred upto April 9, 2018 by the SDM Vijaypur to the Attorney holder, Raman Kumar, son of Sham Lal, resident of Chak Keshav, Tehsil Bishnah and Rejnish Puri, son of Pritam Puri House No 165-A Gandhi Nagar who swindled the money through conspiracy and stratagem be refunded in the Vijaypur Treasury.
Later, a memorandum was handed over to the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma by the residents of Meen Charkan urging him to keep the equilibrium of justice balanced as the destitute ladies have no source of income, no means of livelihood and have become the victims of starvation due to biggest subterfuge hatched by the revenue officials in connivance with the aforesaid attorney holders.
