NAGROTA/SAMBA: Police on Wednesday rescued 20 bovines and arrested eight smugglers at separate Nakas.
According to report, a truck bearing No. HR38H-7163 which was on its way from Samba to Udhampur was intercepted by Mansar police during a Naka under the supervision of Mansar Police Post in-charge SI Akash Sagar on Samba-Udhampur road near Mansar lake and rescued seven bovines being illegally transported towards Srinagar.
Driver of the vehicle, Saleem Khan, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Nai Basti Nagrota Bye Pass and conductor Sarfroz Ahmed, son of Ghulam Baas, resident of Sandrani Udhampur were arrested and a case was filed in this regard.
Meanwhile, 13 bovines were rescued from the clutches of 6 persons namely Sukhvinder Kumar, son of Rattan Lal, resident of Miran Sahib, Surinder Kumar, son of Payara Lal, resident of Chohala, R. S Pura, Barkat Ali, son of Haneef Ali, resident of Rajpur, Sua No. 1, Akhnoor, Mohammad Yaqoob, son of Haji Babu, resident of Miran Sahib, Mohammad Ashraf, son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Udhampur and Farid Hussain, son of Qasim Din, resident of R. S. Pura from three vehicles (JK02AB/4337, JK02BG/9285 and JMU/8722) from TCP NHW-1A, Nagrota. A case vide FIR No. 38/2016 under section 188 RPC was registered and investigation taken up.
