KATHUA: In view of the complaints received from public and instructions from Deputy Commissioner Kathua to check the violations of various provisions of MV Act by school buses, a special drive was launched by Regional Transport Office under the supervision of RTO Kathua S. Amarjeet Singh.
Checking team comprising of MVI Ravinder Sharma and MVTAs conducted a drive against violators to check the violations of provisions of MV Act during early hours in the morning. As many as 13 vehicles were Challaned and three others were compounded and a fine of Rs. 4,500 was realised on the spot. The vehicles were Challaned for plying on the road without fitness certificate, driving licence, drivers without uniform, overloading, violation of route permit and without registration certificates. One vehicle was also seized under section 207 of MV Act 1988. An amount of Rs. 35,000 is expected to be realised from the Challaned vehicles.
